Polynucleotide Treatments

Looking to refresh tired-looking skin, soften fine lines and improve skin texture? Polynucleotide treatments offer an injectable approach that may improve hydration, elasticity and overall skin quality, with results that develop gradually.

What are polynucleotides?

Polynucleotides are purified DNA-derived molecules used in injectable treatments to support skin repair and renewal. Research suggests they may improve skin texture, hydration and the appearance of fine lines, although the evidence is still developing and results vary.

The treatment behind the “Salmon DNA” trend

You may have heard this treatment described as a “salmon sperm facial”. Many products contain highly purified DNA fragments extracted from salmon or trout reproductive tissue. The finished injectable contains processed, purified ingredients—not raw semen—and the exact source depends on the product used.

Under-eye rejuvenation

The delicate skin beneath the eyes can become dry, finely lined and crepey. Polynucleotide treatment may help improve hydration, texture and elasticity, giving the area a smoother, more refreshed appearance.

Suitability depends on the cause of your concerns: under-eye hollows, pigmentation and puffiness need individual assessment, and improvement cannot be guaranteed.

Neck — care for delicate, crepey skin

The neck can develop fine lines, dryness and a crepey texture as skin elasticity changes. Polynucleotide treatments may help improve skin quality and the appearance of fine lines in suitable clients.

For mild laxity, any improvement is likely to be subtle. Significant sagging requires assessment, and this treatment should not be presented as providing a surgical lifting result.

Scalp and thinning hair

Polynucleotide and related PDRN treatments are being studied for certain types of hair thinning. Early research is promising, but evidence remains limited, and results from one formulation cannot automatically be applied to every product.

A consultation is needed to assess the cause of hair loss and discuss appropriate options. Hair regrowth cannot be promised.

What does treatment involve?

Your appointment begins with a consultation to discuss your concerns, medical history and suitability. Treatment involves small injections into the selected area, and a course of appointments may be recommended depending on the product and your treatment plan.

Temporary redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness or small raised bumps can occur after treatment. Your practitioner will explain the risks, expected recovery and aftercare before you proceed.

When will I see results?

Changes generally develop gradually over the weeks following treatment. Results and their duration vary depending on the product, treatment area and individual response. Your consultation will help set realistic expectations.
